The Hook

Graduation day at the Emberhollow Academy ends not with a parade but with an assignment roster: the party is bound into a three-person genin cell alongside Wren Ashcombe, the orphan every other family in the village crosses the street to avoid. Before the ink is dry on the roster, Jonin-sensei Rasa Vellamori pulls the new cell aside and says the thing no one else will: 'Half this village wants that kid gone. The other half wants to know what's sealed inside them. Your job is to make sure neither half gets their way.'
